Bloody PDP protest leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

- There was a bloody protest on Wednesday, November 9, at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government council primaries in Isiala Ngwa north local government area of Abia state 
– The protest left at least one person dead and three others severely injured






There was pandemonium at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government council primaries in Isiala Ngwa north local government area of Abia state on Wednesday, November 9.

The bloody protest left at least one person dead and three others severely injured, Nigerian Bulletin reports. It was alleged that some people believed to be thugs set ablaze the council headquarters to protest what they described as monopolization of party positions by a section of the party stalwarts as well as imposition of candidates at Isala Ngwa north local government.

The PDP chairmanship primaries was held in the 17 local government areas of the state ahead of the local government election on December 17 . The body of the dead man identified simply as Onyemaechi, a staff working in the office of the local government chairman, has been deposited at a mortuary while three other staff who were badly burnt have been taken to hospital.

In another development, the crisis within the PDP took a new turn on Wednesday, November 9 as the Ali Modu Sheriff faction accused the Ahmed Makarfi-led committee of working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sheriff faction claimed that Makarfi’s National Caretaker Committee is allegedly presently working with top chieftains of the APC who are aggrieved by the party’s way.
